The California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) announced that they are updating the Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule Drug List to include drugs addressed in their Traumatic Brain Injury Guideline. The updates are based on the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Practice Guidelines.
Along with the addition of these drugs is their designation as “special fill” eligible. This means the drug may be prescribed or dispensed without Prospective Review.
The change will take effect February 15th, and specific drugs that were added as well as other changes can be found here on the MTUS Drug List updates.
