Kraft Heinz Cited After Worker Suffers Partial Finger Amputation

The Kraft Heinz Foods Company was cited by the United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) after an incident where a worker suffered a partial finger amputation at a facility in Ohio when they were attempting to clear a machine that had jammed. The company was cited for machine safety violations.

They received a serious violation for failing to provide energy control training, specifically to employees who operated liquid machines and were not trained on energy isolation. They received another serious violation for failing to establish an energy control procedure on liquid machines. The company received a serious violation for failing to install adequate machine guards.

The company is facing $109,939 in proposed penalties, and has 15 days to contest the findings if they choose.
