As the joyous holiday season approaches we have come upon the time to be thankful for all that we have in life. Family, friends and everything we are privileged to have. As we have heard for such a long time there is that impending gloom in workers compensation called ICD-10. I wanted to take this time to just look at a few codes that adjusters should be thankful they do not have to know yet during this season.
- X10.2XXA – Contact with fats and cooking oils, initial encounter. This would be needed for all those that are deep frying turkeys for the first time and either blow that turkey up or start a massive grease fire.
- T23.351S – Third degree burn of right palm. sequela. Just take a look at the video with this post to see how that could happen.
- W61.42XA – Struck by a turkey,m initial encounter. For all those hunters out there that like a truly fresh turkey, maybe the turkey is trying for some revenge this year.
- W61.43XIA – Pecked by turkey, initial encounter. Again trying to get too close to have that fresh turkey to cook this year.
- S65.513A – Laceration of blood vessel of left middle finger – initial encounter. For when you are slicing open that beautifully cooked thanksgiving day turkey and not quite giving it your full attention.
Again be thankful we do not have to know these this year and hopefully everyone is careful and comes back to work healthy, happy, and full.
From all of us at WCInsights.com we wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!
