OSHA Fines Dairy Farm $193K in Workers Death
March 14, 2026

cowsOSHA has announced that it has proposed a fine of $193K against Burnett Dairy Corporation, a Wisconsin dairy co-op citing safety violations after a worker died in a grain bin back in November.

A 52 year old male employee was inside a grain bin attempting to unclog a sump pump when the bin suddenly filled in with corn, engulfing the man and killing him.

OSHA says several safety violations contributed to the workers death including not have safety standards for entering a grain bin, failing to deactivate a conveyor belt, and allowing a worker inside a bin while corn was moving through the facility.

Burnett claims that the worker was trained on entering the grain bin and wearing all proper safety equipment and they plan to challenge the citations and fines.
