The Value of Clean Data
March 14, 2026

dataEverywhere you turn its all about data, data, data, we live in a world of technology where you can find out anything about anyone in a split second.  So why do I feel like the world of workers compensation is constantly behind the curve.  Now I know this does not apply to every entity out there; I have seen companies that are way out in front of everyone else, companies right on par, and those that are still in the dark age.  Whatever your choice is it seems to be working, but lets take a look at all the entities of a claims environment from intake all the way out to specialty providers and bill review, every step along the line relies on the quality of that data being correct to make sure that the correct information in being received and looked at everywhere.

With all the rules and regulations and time factors involved in workers compensation the last place that I feel we should be cutting corners on is our data.  For instance we have found that doctors tend to use every single line of a bill, most of the time all those ICD codes correlate to the injury however you do have these people out there that try to pad the bill up with the last line item details.  When you have human eyes looking at every single line of a bill there are bound to be misses.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a platform that takes every single document coming into your claims shop, digest it all at a line item level, send the whitemail where it needs to go automatically and have all that high fidelity data available to every aspect of your organization? Sounds like  a win-win for every entity involved along the way.  What if you could take that a step further and have all your duplicate and incomplete, and jurisdictionally wrong bills be automatically returned to the providers before they even entered your claims shops processing?  Now your talking about nothing but quality data being in your claims environment for your adjusters, bill review getting clean data and not having to pay for them to filter out your incomplete and dupes – which also saves your adjusters time and money because they didn’t not waste resources looking at those documents.  Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?  Well it is out there, it is available, and it is Acrometis’ CLAIMExpert platform.  Now, before you say this article was just a shameless plug for my company I want to point out that I am really looking for the value of clean, high fidelity data – I have just seen how we do it first hand and the impact it has had on our clients.

We base everything in our business on data, we use it to make sure we are compliant in the claims we are working.  Making sure we are properly reporting to the state, and we use this data for predictive analytics – to try and make sure that we are better and more efficient in the future.

We are only getting more and more advanced in our field and with that we are expected to be more and more efficient.  We need to be looking for that next best thing to stay ahead of the curve before we look up and are so far behind digging out.  It does not have to cost an arm and a leg to have the quality data you want, in fact once the data is completely clean you will see such a reduction in medical spend and adjuster efficiency that it pays for itself ten fold to have this.  I know from first hand knowledge that when you have high fidelity data rolling through your environment that everything else falls into line and efficiency becomes second nature.  Whatever your choice is we know it all comes down to the quality of the data, the cleaner it is, the better the outcome.
