OSHA has issued one willful safety violation to Materon Brush after a workers right hand became pinched as her operated a metal coiler fracturing three of his fingers.
OSHA cited the company after an investigation following an injury in March of 2016 for failure to ensure the machine had adequate safety guards.
“OSHA has specific guidelines to protect workers from dangerous machinery, chemicals and other hazards in the workplace,” said Kim Nelson, OSHA’s area director in Toledo. “Materion needs to re-evaluate its safety and health programs to ensure employees are being protected from job hazards.”
OSHA has proposed penalties of $70,000.
