Salesman’s Comp Fraud Catches Up With Him
May 4, 2026

rv-up-on-bricksA man in Washington has been charged with felony theft after it was discovered he was collecting workers’ compensation disability payments while continuing to work at several different jobs.

Bobby R. Johnson injured his lower back and chest when he fell in an icy parking lot at the recreational vehicle company that employed him. He started to receive workers’ comp payments because he said he could not work because of his injury, and even his doctors confirmed that he was not able to perform his duties.

He collected $81,453 over a two year period. Investigators found that he was employed during this period, he worked as a salesman for two different RV companies and he was a home caregiver. At an RV show he was seen moving around easily and walking with customers, things he said he could not do.

He was investigated after the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries cross-checked his state employment records which showed him as being employed, while at the same time receiving wage-replacement checks from the Department of Labor and Industries.
